Ms. Shields is an extremely gifted young attorney. A native of Liberty City, Florida, Zainab brought her talents to Philadelphia in 2015 and immediately distinguished herself amongst her peers. Prior to joining MFR, Ms. Shields began making a name for herself with Ali Law by winning her first jury trial in a contracts dispute case in New Jersey. Quickly gaining a reputation as a prolific researcher/writer and aggressive advocate, Ms. Shields earned the appreciation of the partners at MFR for her creativity and promise as a real trial lawyer.

Experience

Ms. Shields began her career at Service Employees International Union where she became adept at organizing and strategizing around short-term and long-term political goals to build and strengthen the bonds between industry and community for shared economic prosperity. Ms. Shields' experience is also varied, having worked in the Miami Defenders’ office as well as private practice in Philadelphia for a revered criminal defense and plaintiff’s firm. Since relocating to Philadelphia, she has represented clients in a broad range of civil issues in state and federal court, as well as in the drafting and negotiation of commercial real estate agreements. Ms. Shields represents companies, owners, individuals, and nonprofit organizations in matters including Premises Liability, Construction Disputes, Discrimination Actions, Corporate Transactions, and Whistleblower Suits.

Education & Licenses

Ms. Shields completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Miami, Florida and earned her law degree at Emory University School of Law in Atlanta. She is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania, Florida, New Jersey, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.

Professional & Community Involvement

Ms. Shields' community involvement focuses on her interest in public health affairs. Having worked in the Atlanta Legal Aid Society, she has a demonstrated interest in helping with elder law affairs.
