Mincey Fitzpatrick Ross, LLC Secures $350,000 Settlement on Behalf of Client

Our legal team recently obtained a $350,000 settlement on behalf of one of our clients who filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against the city and her supervisors.

Our client alleged that while she was working in the voter registration division of the Office of the City Commissioners, a man exposed himself to her. According to the lawsuit, Commissioner Anthony Clark and Voter Registration Administrator Gregory Irving knew of the sexual harassment but did not do enough to stop it.

Although a spokesperson for the city said the settlement was not an admittance of any wrongdoing or liability, this is not the first time the city has had to settle a sexual harassment case involving defendant. In fact, three other women have in some way accused the defendant of sexual misconduct. One of these women settled her case with the city for $32,500.

According to one report by City Controller Rebecca Rhynhart, the city has paid more than $2 million in the last five years to settle sexual misconduct claims. As a result of the lawsuits, the city has revamped its sexual harassment procedures to include better methods of tracking and investigating complaints.

As part of the settlement, our client will be given a six-month leave of absence and she will be transferred to a new city position.
